Another year, another Ty Segall record (maybe the first of several)? Or not so fast?
When I wrote about Dry Cleaning a few weeks ago, I suggested that one of the issues facing their new release was “[because] they’ve really only had a singular sound…for how long can they keep doing the same thing?”
Ty Segall is a possible Exhibit A for them to reply, “We can keep going as long as we want to and the sound stays relevant, thank you very much.” (Or maybe Exhibit B, since Guided by Voices probably gets the nod for A). Ty Segall has released, according to Wikipedia, 17 full-length records since 2008. On his Bandcamp page, you can find 40 different releases to purchase, including collaborations, EPs, singles, etc.
